Dear Corporate America,
We’re going to keep this short and sweet for you.
The future is female. Start making room for female executives. Let’s talk the truth for a minute. You say you support diversity and everyone’s professional ambitions, but it seems like it’s all words, no action. The proof you ask? There’s too many research studies to count! Starting with the fact that ONLY 5% of the Fortune 500 Companies’ CEO’s are female. This has been the only growth since 1995. Don’t you think you need to change this to match your statements, visions, and policies?
Would you believe it if we told you that female leadership delivered a 36% higher return on equity? There’s more research on this too. These facts are just the basics. There’s a lot more to where these came from but that’s besides the point. We believe you are more than capable of putting more effort and money into this issue. Start small and hire more females. Don’t not hire us because you’re afraid we will leave when we plan to start a family. How can you be so sure without even giving us a chance?
Bottom line is, we are NOT the problem. YOU are. We make up more than 1/2 of Undergraduate graduates and 2/3 of Graduate School graduates. We have never been so qualified and determined. All you have to do is encourage us and do whatever you can to keep us. You’ll thank us later!
